Accessibility at Tides Laguna

The Tides Laguna Beach is committed to making our website usable by as many people as possible, including guests who browse with a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, or rely on magnification or captions. This page explains where we stand, what we know is still imperfect, and how to reach a person if the site gets in your way.

The standard we work to

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines are the benchmark used in most accessibility settlements in the United States, and they cover a wide range of recommendations for making web content more accessible.

Current status: partially conformant. That means most of the site meets the standard, and some parts do not yet. We would rather tell you exactly which parts than claim more than we can stand behind.

What we have done

In September 2026 we commissioned an independent audit of the site against WCAG 2.1 Level AA, covering every distinct page template. The audit combined automated testing with manual review by a person, because automated tools alone detect only a minority of accessibility problems. We have since remediated the issues it identified in the site’s code, including:

  • restoring the ability to zoom and enlarge text on mobile devices
  • giving every form field, link and button a name that assistive technology can announce
  • rebuilding the contact form with proper labels and removing an image CAPTCHA that could not be completed without sight
  • raising text and button contrast to meet the minimum ratio
  • making the keyboard focus indicator visible again throughout the site
  • adding a skip link and page landmarks so keyboard and screen reader users can bypass the header

Known limitations

We are aware of the following, and we are working on them rather than hoping you will not notice.

  • Online reservations. Our booking system is operated by a third-party provider on their own website, and we do not control its code. We have asked them for their accessibility conformance documentation. If any part of the booking process is difficult or impossible for you to use, please call us on 1.888.777.2107 and we will complete your reservation over the phone, at the same rates and with the same room choices available online.
  • Photography and the property map. We are in the process of writing text descriptions for our photo gallery and a written description of the property layout. Until that is complete, please contact us and we will describe any room or any part of the property to you directly.
